All Key Stage 2 children participate in Athletics during sports afternoon in the summer term. Lessons are held on Cheltenham Ladies' College athletics track where teachers coach pupils in their running, jumping and throwing skills. Groups are arranged so that track and simple field events are coached separately within a low teacher-to-pupil ratio.
At the annual School Sports Day, everyone gets to enjoy Athletics, with all pupils taking part and competing with great enthusiasm. Sprinting, shuttle relays, the long distance challenge, obstacle courses and parent races all serve to make this an event full of fun and enjoyment.
Children from Years 4-6 are encouraged to attend the after-school Athletics Club that provides the opportunity to enhance and practise skills. Please see ‘Clubs – Athletics’ for more detail.
