Mrs Sophie Taylor

Deputy Head and Class Teacher - Cedar

Time at Airthrie: 10/01/2011 (9 years ago)
Qualifications: BEd (Hons) Cantab
Specialist Subjects: English

Since qualification in 1998, I worked in London at St Paul’s Cathedral School and then at Wetherby School in Notting Hill, where I held the position of Director of Early Years. I joined the Airthrie team in 2011 after having two sons (now 10 and 14) and undertaking supply teaching work in both independent and state sector schools in Cheltenham. When I joined Airthrie, it was as a mentor for newly qualified teachers and I was delighted to join the teaching staff shortly after that.

I am currently a Year 3 Class Teacher, holding joint responsibility for Cedar with Mrs Miriam Cowling, whom I have worked closely with for a number of years. We work well as a team, sharing a joint ethos and expectation from the children we teach. I have worked in several year groups at Airthrie and enjoy the challenges that involves.

Last year I took over responsibility of School Council with Mrs Sally Jones and have enjoyed the children’s conviction to action their ideas – resulting in many small changes around the school; including the monkey bars and the fish!

I am a member of the Leadership Team.
