Time at Airthrie: 04/09/2015 (2 years ago)
Qualifications: BEd (Hons) Gloucestershire
I seem to have come full circle since graduating with a BEd Hons here in Cheltenham over twenty years ago!
Since then I have taught in a wide variety of schools, across the EYFS and Primary age range within the State and Independent sector in the UK and overseas.
My first teaching job was in my hometown Cardiff where I taught for six years, teaching Reception, Years 1, 2 and 5.
We then moved to Aberdeen, children began to arrive and I juggled supply work with family life.
My husband’s career began to take us further afield and we have spent thirteen years living in Azerbaijan, Dubai, Holland and South Africa. I continued to teach, mentor trainee teachers and tutor children throughout this time. Perhaps the most rewarding time was working with children at a local township school in Cape Town.
It is lovely to be back in Cheltenham where our three boys are now settled and I can get out in the Cotswolds for long, often muddy walks with our dogs.
Being from Wales it may be no surprise to learn that I am an avid rugby fan and tend to get a bit over excited when Wales play!
I have really enjoyed working in a variety of roles at Airthrie. I am delighted to join the Early Years teaching team this year and look forward to making learning experiences for the children personal, fun and memorable.
