Mrs Caroline Woodcock

Early Years Practitioner

Time at Airthrie: 01/09/1992 (25 years ago)
Qualifications: Norland Diploma (1981), NNEB (1980), RSH (1980)

I trained at the Norland College in Hungerford (now in Bath) where I enjoyed extensive hands-on experience in several local Nursery and Infant schools in the Newbury/Hungerford area. Following this, I then worked on the Maternity and Paediatric wards of Wycombe General Hospital, as well as with private families in London and Hertfordshire.

After marrying into the army, 4 children and several years of travelling, our family returned to the UK where I worked at a nursery school in Devizes, Wiltshire. Our final move brought us to Cheltenham and to Airthrie!

I absolutely love working in Acorn; the rewards are enormous and I consider it a great privilege to be in a role of such importance in our youngest pupils' school lives. At 3 and 4 years old they are sponges for information and learning and as a team we love to fill our days with fun and laughter.

I am completely hands-on with my pupils as we enjoy every creative aspect of art, messy play, PE and exploratory learning. Equally, it is a joy to share books, Drama, French and Music with these developing minds.

I feel that an important part of my responsibility is to prepare my pupils for their big step into Reception as they approach their fifth birthdays.
