Time at Airthrie: 09/01/1983 (39 years ago)
Qualifications: B Ed., IM., GCC.

I took over as Airthrie's Principal in January 1983 having qualified as a teacher in 1971 and held a management position within the state sector. Airthrie has become my life-long vocation. I love the unique homely environment and charming buildings which are full of character. The School has undergone a considerable amount of modernisation and expansion to provide the appropriate facilities required for today's education. We continue to embrace technology and change whilst retaining our longstanding values. We have a large garden and are ideally located next to the Cheltenham Ladies' College sports complex, which we use daily.

I completed a Gloucestershire training in counselling and social care. I feel deeply about the wellbeing of our pupils, their families and everyone in our community. As a school we endeavour to promote happiness and well-being, respect and good manners in every child. From this base comes a growth in confidence and self-esteem - and inevitably success follows. Each year, Airthrie's excellent final results show pupils achieving 100% success in independent school entrance exams together with a number of cross curricular scholarships alongside local Grammar school places.

Our staff and I work very hard to secure the school's continued success, and we look forward to welcoming new pupils to the Airthrie family.
