Mrs Amanda Houghton-Brown

Class Teacher - Poplar

Time at Airthrie: 01/09/2011 (6 years ago)
Qualifications: BA (Hons) and Cert Ed Kent 1997
Specialist Subjects: History, French, Literacy

I qualified from Canterbury Christ Church College in 1997. My first teaching post was with a Year 4 class at Durlston Court, a small prep school on the south coast. I then followed my ambition to work abroad and spent 3 years teaching at Institute Le Rosey, an international school just outside Geneva, Switzerland.

In 2003 I joined Rendcomb College in Gloucestershire both as a Year 4 teacher and as a teacher of French across KS2.

In 2011 I was delighted to be appointed Year 4 Class Teacher at Airthrie. After three fantastic years in Larch I moved across to work with Year 5, as Poplar's teacher, which I greatly enjoy.

In January 2018 I commenced a part-time Post Graduate Cert in Special Educational Needs at the University of Gloucestershire. I am greatly looking forward to enhancing my professional development in conjunction with my teaching at Airthrie.
