Airthrie to join the Dean Close Foundation family of schools and nurseries
Airthrie are delighted to announce that as of September 2021 they will be part of the Dean Close Foundation. They will be joining the educational group which consists of four schools and a family of Little Trees nurseries. Beth Sullivan, Principal of Airthrie, says ‘’Having dedicated my life since January 1983 to the development and nurturing of Airthrie as a successful, small caring and family school wherein experienced and committed staff make Pupils and Parents their first priority, I am now thrilled that it’s maintenance and future is assured by joining the Dean Close Foundation. I am confident that long established values and ethos will remain intact as the new stewardship takes Airthrie forward in the years to come. I will never lose my interest in the education that Airthrie provides but feel that it is time for me to allow myself some free time and contemplation of retirement’’.
The Dean Close Foundation structure brings the benefits of being both a small and large organisation at the same time, with schools and nurseries that know each child and family individually, whilst the Foundation itself is large enough to provide financial stability, professional expertise and strategic planning. Despite the impact of the global pandemic, the merger aims to provide Airthrie with financial support and contribute educational best practise to it’s already thriving school.
The Foundation is a growing, vibrant and diverse family of schools and nurseries, uniting around a shared vision and values. These spring from the origins of Dean Close School, which was founded in 1886 in memory of Dean Francis Close, educational philanthropist. Airthrie shares the values of courage, contribution and love which are the guiding principles behind our educational vision. ‘'We are delighted to welcome Airthrie school into our diverse family of schools and nurseries. The Dean Close Foundation has one simple aim; to see every member of its community flourish’' says Emma Taylor, Warden and CEO of the Dean Close Foundation.
