Cross Country at St Edward's Prep

The second cross country event was held at St Edward's Prep School with six of our pupils participating. It is a fabulous course with its notorious hill and other undulations.  Once again Airthrie children competed with their usual determination. In the Year 5 girls' race the hare went the wrong way so some of the runners at the back of the field were able to catch up with the front runner; however Megan Amey was not phased and improved her position from 11th in the previous fixture to an excellent 8th place. Jemima running in the Year 6 girls' race showed consistency to finish in 11th position. The two boys from Year 6, Kieran Edge and Will Pacey ran with even pace over the two laps and were able to gain places in the final straight as they sprinted to the finish. Benjamin Mellor ran a thrilling race in the Year 5 boys, by starting strongly, holding his position and pushing hard all the way to improve his finishing position to the top 20 in a large field, in 16th place. The next race in the league will be held in the Spring Term.
