Brigadier General David Hamilton - US Army, visited us to speak in Assembly. He presented an impressive figure in his US Army dress uniform replete with numerous medal ribbons. He gave a talk on ‘Values’ wherein he looked back on his own childhood, reflecting that education was one of the most valuable things that had happened in his life. He then offered a question and answer session. Pupils were intrigued and asked numerous questions which varied from ‘What has been the most frightening thing in your life’ to ‘What is your favourite pizza topping?’ and finally ‘Have you ever had anything broken?’ He brought amusement to his concluding answer by replying ‘Yes, a young girl broke my heart when I was a teenager’.
