Cross-Country - Race 3

18/02/2019

Last Thursday, 5 pupils represented Airthrie at Cheltenham College Prep School in the third race of the Cheltenham Primary Schools' Cross-Country League.

First to run in the Year 5 and Under Boys' Race was Benjamin from Year 4 who remained strong throughout.  Benjamin improved his position from 54th and 62nd in the two previous fixtures to a thrilling 34th place.  Also. he ran the fastest Airthrie time of the day over the flat two lap course.

Jemima was our Year 5 runner in the Girls' Race.  Running steadily throughout and with a strong finish and sprint to the end, she also improved her position by a number of places, from 34th and 64th in the first two races to a fantastic 11th position.

In the Year 6 Girls' Race Arabella and Georgie began the race fast to gain a position in the top third, from where they could sustain a steady pace.  Over the two laps Georgie gradually improved her position, and showed her strength in the last 200 metres, to finish in 10th position overall which was 6 places higher than her last race.  Arabella, finishing in 26th position and Florence in 51st place, both ran with determination and also improved by several places on their previous performances.

Once again, both of us were very were proud of the determination shown by our Airthrie Cross-Country Team.
