Plastic Pollution - Alder's Assembly

Alder have been inspired by the Blue Planet TV series and the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.  This issue has been discussed in our PSHE and Literacy lessons this term and we were very interested to see Georgie's Blue Planet poster which shows images of the vast array of sea life that exist in our oceans.

During Monday's assembly this week, Alder pupils presented their message to the whole School about the importance of reducing single use plastic.  They shared how long it takes a piece of plastic to biodegrade (plastic bottles can take 450 years and plastic bags 10-1000 years!) and showed some images of the problem of the over production of plastic that faces the world - a very large amount of this plastic ends up in the world’s oceans.

Alder then shared some ideas about how we can all play a part in reducing the amount of plastic we use and now we are going to work together to make a positive change and take care of our environment.
