Since qualifying from St Paul's and St Mary’s College, I have taught in a variety of primary schools in the Cheltenham and Gloucester area. Throughout my career I have had experience of the full junior age range, however, in recent years I have specialised in taking responsibility for upper KS2 in particular.
I have held the post of Curriculum Leader for English in two of my previous schools, I work hard to maintain contemporary and thorough subject knowledge and I enjoy teaching this subject immensely. I have helped with a strong Drama programme at Airthrie and have contributed to a number of concerts and performances.
In recent years, I have specialised in Year 6 Humanities. I enjoy teaching History in particular where I derive great pleasure from bringing the subject to life. Children can be inspired by great figures of the past to dream bigger dreams and do greater things in their own lives.
I have been a Year 4, 5 and 6 Form Teacher throughout my time at Airthrie, however, in 2016 my teaching focus changed and my responsibilities now lie with teaching Humanities and English in the upper school and Sport across Key Stage 2.
Throughout my career I have organised cricket, hockey, football and tag rugby teams. I have coaching certificates for cricket, hockey and football, and have many years of experience in coaching these sports at school, club and representative level.
I have been a committee member of the Gloucestershire Schools Cricket Association, with responsibility for the Under 11 county squad. I am responsible for the Airthrie Cricket and Hockey teams for Year 6 and Year 4. In addition to playing fixtures against other schools, Airthrie enters area club and school competitions on a regular basis.
