We are very proud to learn that Lilly (one of our Year 2 pupils) has been given an amazing opportunity to train at Bristol (a Fromeside Gymnastics Club 'Club of the Year 2014'). This club has highly specialised coaches and is home to Olympians Imogen Cairns and Jennifer Pinches.
Lilly's area of gymnastics is Women's Artistic Gymnastics: this is four piece competitive gymnastics comprising of floor, vault, bar and beam.
She is working towards her Compulsory Level 5 next March and then to the Elite Pathway, which is a huge achievement for a child of her age. Her Mum tells us that Lilly has always loved gym and has demonstrated a natural ability since she was able to walk and do the splits at the age of 2!
Elite Gymnastics is the highest and most difficult level of gymnastics and from this level you are then able to compete internationally and, hopefully, go on to larger competitions such as The Olympics and The World Championships.
It will mean a lot more training for Lilly - up to 15 hours a week, but she is absolutely delighted to have this opportunity.
