Written by Edward, Dylan and Mr Wright
Last Wednesday, Mr Wright's Cricket team got to School early at 7:30am and drove for an hour and a half to get to Crackley Hall.
In all games our bowlers Charlie, George, Edward, Ed and Ben bowled well and wickets fell.
During the fielding Ben and Ed did the best catches of the day stopping loads of runs while all the other fielders didn't let any out of the boundary.
When Airthrie was batting we started really well and carried on like that throughout the tournament. We got some fours and plenty of twos.
After lunch, Mr Wright told us that Airthrie had won a seeded place in The Plate Competition. This means our opponents in the semi-final were Crackley Hall 'B' Team.
Airthrie dominated the semi-final from start to finish. Crackley Hall found the Airthrie bowling quite hard and only managed a small score. Airthrie passed the Crackley Hall score within a few overs.
The final was against Chase Grammar who looked very strong. Ed, Charlie and George scored difficult runs against a strong bowling attack. Airthrie scored 23 runs.
The Airthrie bowlers were accurate and prevented Chase from scoring freely. The boys worked very well as a team to restrict Chase Grammar to a total of 18. There was some very sensible fielding from Airthrie as the boys worked very well together as a team.
Chase Grammar were restricted to 19 runs and an excellent direct hit from Edward made sure that Airthrie won the ISA Midlands' Plate Competition!
At the end of the day, after the final, when we found out that we had won it, all the team and teachers were overjoyed and on the journey home we were all really happy.
